A summary of research completed to assess the effectiveness of Sprint and Nextel’s communication strategy during the companies’ merger. The contents are based on public information available via media, the internet and the company website. The media plays an important part in Sprint Nextel’s communication throughout the companies’ merger from the rumors of merger, service changes, product development and company growth and focus updates and news. Although the media played an important part communicating to customers and other stakeholders throughout this merger, public resources, for the most part, shed favorable light on the success of the merger and in several iterations, communicated openly the successful intent and purpose of this union.
