The three companies I have chosen are Diageo, Tesco, and ITV. For this assignment the stock values of these companies will be measured over a 30 month period from 01/01/1980 to 01/06/1982 in order to learn which company had the most valuable stock among three of them.
1. At the very beginning the price for a share of Diageo was stable but from 03/1980 it started decreasing. Later it continued to drop, although not dramatically. In month 12 it went down to 38 pound a share. After several months of fluctuations it reached a small peak in month 17 (41.5 pound). Afterwards it experienced a tremendous decrease and by the end of month 22 the price per share was around 27 pounds. Till the end of the taken period it was climbing unsteadily and ended up at 43 pound per share. The mean (average) of the value is 39.04 and 9 values were under the average. The medium of the values is 40.14.
Let us have a look at the values of Tesco shares from 01/01/ 1980 to 01/06/1982.
From the beginning the price was 7.16 and going down slowly for 10 month. After that there was a small increase up to 6.31 in month 12. Then the graph flattened a bit and made another jump to 7.53 in 05/1981. Afterwards the price was shaking from 7 to 6 pound per share. From months 21 to 27 it was fluctuating in the same way but in the range of 5 to 6 pound. At the end of the period the price went up slightly and ended up at 6.79 pound a share. The mean is equal to 6.42 and median is 6.15.
The last company we are going to look at is ITV.
