1.    Introduction


This report, prepared for the TRG Group (TRG), aims to allow TRG to consider what strategic changes it might need to make over the next two to three years.  TRG’s operations in terms of the internal and external environment will be analysed and evaluated using the Johnson & Scholes approach.  Based on the analysis the report will make recommendations as to the possible choices of strategy that will enable TRG to grow its business in the future.  

2.    TRG’s Industry


TRG, established in 1989, operates as an SME providing a range of HR support and legal services to both public and private sectors.  TRG encompasses four business units that each provide different services but fall under the TRG Group umbrella.  The four key business units that make up the TRG Group are; TRG Recruitment Services, Trevor Gilbert & Associates, (TGA) The Pathfinder Project, (PFP) and The Way.  Further information on the individual business units can be found in Appendix 1.  

3.    TRG’s Mission

TRG’s mission is to maintain their status as the UK's leading managed service and outsourcing provider for switchboard, front-of-house, help desk and call-handling, and the number one expert witness practice for the delivery of employment reports for use in personal injury litigation.
