I. PC laptop/desktop Macro-Environment Analysis
    The three most significant major trends in fall 2008 are the power of China and India, the internet, and the power of mass communication.
    The economic growth of China and India is a big delta in macro-environment. The real GDP growth of China increased from 8.4% in 2000 to 11.4% in 2007 (GMID, 2008). The population of China was 1.32 billion in 2007 (GMID, 2008). The real GDP growth of India increased from 5.5% in 2000 to 9.2% in 2007 (GMID, 2008). The population of India was 1.14 billion in 2007 (GMID, 2008). China and India became the new important market in the world based on their growing economic performance and high population. Companies moved their factories to China and India due to the lower labor cost. Chinese products are famous for the lower price and attract customers from the whole world (“Amazon.com, Inc” 2008).
    The Internet is another big delta in 2008 macro-environment. The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks. The services of the internet include electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, file sharing and the World Wide Web. The population of using the internet in the whole world increased from 0.36 billion in 2000 to 1.46 billion in 2008 (“Internet usage statistics,” 2008). This new technology shorted the distance between people living in different countries. E-commerce, for example, is a new industry based on the popularity of using internet.
