Sustainability, the innovative concept of the twenty first century that describes the attribute of being able to maintain the process or status at a certain level indefinitely, is gradually penetrate into today’s society as the world is developing rapidly (Coelho, 2005).
It is so huge a concept that exists in numerous elements of the world, including human population size, biosphere robustness, environmental quality and economic development (Zen, 2000). Not being an exception, Organizations also have to be sustainable as they form a huge part of human activities. The sustainability of organizations is directly linked to the continuous improvement of business performance. This article will mainly look at the impact that sustainability brings to the four managerial functions which drives the sustainable development of the organizations. Real world examples are used to gain a more concrete idea of how exactly sustainability impacts the way managers do their jobs.
