Question.1) if you were a recruiter for these two firms, how would you describe their respective cultural strengths and weaknesses?
If I were a recruiter at both of these firms, the strengths and weaknesses of the cultures of both the organisations described by me would be as under.
Google throughout the world is well renowned for the unique ways of operating and the “uncorporate” culture present in the organization is well known to many people. Majority of the people around the globe despite being unacquainted about the internal culture, prefer Google as the top priority in their list of dream jobs. The founders of Google search engine Larry Page and Sergey Brin belong to middle class American families. Being from modest backgrounds, they always emphasised on the informal, comfortable and casual feel in the company not only during the initial years of the company’s formation; the same culture is followed even today.
The recruiting policy at Google is uncompromisingly unbiased and favours talent, innovativeness and inventive people over experienced ones. Google continuously expands its development team and looks for people who share an obsessive commitment to creating search perfection and having a great time doing it. The way of life at Google values “coolness” enormously, and the superiority of service not as much. Because everyone realizes they are an equally important part of Google's success, no one hesitates to skate over a corporate officer during roller hockey.
