{draw:frame}  THE HOUSE OF TATA  FOLLOWING ARE THE ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN THE CASE:       In 1969 the government abolished the managing agency system      with the dissolution of which TATA companies became independent      and set up Tata Administrative Services which suggested      that all TATA companies operate autonomously and adapt an      organization form suited to its business.    With TATA steel adopting a departmental organization, VOLTAS a matrix structure and TATA consultancy services a Project group structure, the question is:  WHY DID EACH TATA COMPANY ADOPT DIFFERENT ORGANISATIONAL _STRUCTURES AFTER 70 YEARS OF EXISTENCE?????_       With the departure of JRD’s generation and a new, relatively      unproven generation taking charge, the future was considered      to be rife with both opportunities and risks.
