Virtual Organization E-Business Paper
    The virtual organization that I have chosen to write this paper on is Riordan Manufacturing.  E-business is defined "broadly as any business process that relies on an automated information system. Today, this is mostly done with Web-based technologies". (Wikipedia, 2007). For this paper I will analyze the legal issues Riordan Manufacturing may face when conducting e-business and discuss possible solutions. I will identify issues that may arise in Riordan Manufacturing international business and determine the conflicts of law which pertain to those issues. I will discuss which laws apply to the situations, and which court will decide the issues.
    Riordan Manufacturing is wholly owned by Riordan Industries, a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion". (University of Phoenix, 2005). Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is an industry leader in the field of plastic injection molding. Facilities are located in San Jose, California, Albany, Georgia, Pontiac, Michigan and Hangzhou, China. (University of Phoenix, 2005). Legal issues which Riordan Manufacturing may face while conducting e-business include, "tax law, real estate transactions, employment law, immigration matters, civil litigation, workers compensation, labor law, and customs regulations". (University of Phoenix, 2005). Riordan Manufacturing has the law firm, Litteral & Finkel on retainer. Lowell Bradford, Chief Legal Counsel, oversees all legal matters for Riordan Manufacturing. With its international network, it can send attorneys from its closest offices and within a few hours be on the scene to provide legal advice anywhere in the world.
