The Office of Student Affairs hosted Andres Lara to speak on the topic "How to move forward when you feel like quitting!" The students in Lee Hall were very attentive and enthused to hear the guest speaker. Mr. Lara wasted no time getting the crowd involved by doing a magic trick and having the audience dance to the Macarena.

The inspirational speaker is a native of Cuba, who escaped the country at the age of sixteen and by age twenty-six he became a millionaire. He tells how he came to America speaking little to no English and how he came to being the inspirational person he is today.

Mr. Lara had the audience on their feet, performing balancing acts, encouraging everyone to tell someone close to them inspirational phrases, words of encouragement, and how they perceive themselves now and in years to come. He also encourages others to work as a team to reach their goals. However, his main theme was that you must learn to change your focus and to unite as a team to achieve more in life. “Every time you communicate, you need to focus on a main objective,” Mr. Lara said. “It is easy to get sidetracked.” He touched also on how to turn setbacks into comebacks, how to stay focused during difficult times, and to always think positive of yourself because being positive usually leads to positive results.
