religion in schools

I strongly disagree with a current statement that I have been thinking about a lot. The statement reads,”Public schools should teach religious instruction – that is, teaching pupils to live and believe according to religious principles, as distinguished from teaching pupils to know about religion. I disagree with that statement because I believe any kind of religion should be forced upon anyone. People have the right to choose any religion they want to, if any religion at all. That is called Freedom of Religion. Also, I think that this violates Rule of Law, because there is a law called Separation of Church and State. This means that government and religious institutions are to be kept separate and independent from each other.
    Some people may agree with this statement though. Some people would think its right to force religion upon students. The reason why they would agree with this is because some people are so wrapped up in their religion that they don’t see that kids don’t really know what they want. What some parents want for their kids is to have a really good relationship with God, and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, it’s just; I’m saying that religion shouldn’t be forced upon people.
    For example, atheists. They don’t believe in God. Atheists believe in the nonexistence of Gods. They live as there are no Gods but the existence of them is not denied but may be designated unnecessary or useless. They believe that Gods neither provide purpose to life, nor influence everyday life....
